I read somewhere earlier on this board that they're working on the media files problem, they're aware of it and assuming the development is entirely chessbase's responsibility even tho viva is 'll be fixed soon. I would've spent the money on rybka instead it's a much stronger engine but both of them are rated higher than magnus so it probably doesn't matter much lol

PS as for the manual, there doesn't seem to be a fritz 14 pdf manual, does seem a bit strange, unless its using the firtz 12 GUI? that doing another manula is a bit pointless? Thanks for the post, at some point I might get fritz, but can't say when.

Thanks for that, as I had a feeling the GUI would be identical, so the only issue really remaining with this release are the missing media files, so the only real difference then to this version on steam and the deep fritza version, is that the deep version is multi core, while the steam version is not/ that would explain the price tag, as this was the same for fritz 13, deep been multi and then a single core version that was cheaper, still if you also look at different engines, the multi version of the engine (if you have to buy) is always more expensive. This is the best, followed by HIARCS chess explorer. I currently have the Shredder gui, Hiarcs gui, and Houdini Aquarium.

If you have a hard time with the gui, you need to download the PDF. The "playchess" online chess gui is superb. This is absolutely the best chess GUI available. For the price, this version is an excellent price.

Only thing different, you have the single processor version. The GUI in the Steam version is identical to Deep Fritz 14. I bought this version and seriously caught the chess fever again - I then bought DEEP Fritz because I wanted the power of multi-core to perform game analysis. the appeal being that it's offered at a slightly lower price 's $20 cheaper than the standard version of fritz 13 and $40 less than deep fritz 14 (the multi core 64bit version) Not specificly per se since i've never purchased a viva media version but viva media has a track record of publishing "dumbed down" versions of fritz for atleast the passed few versions. Anyone here got both versions of fritz 14 and can compare?
